For more than 50 years, AFP has been the standard-bearer for professionalism in fundraising.  When you join AFP, you join an international professional association dedicated to professional development, ethics, information and research and certification in the development field.

What are some of the benefits of becoming an AFP member?

Education: AFP Membership provides accessible continuing education opportunities nationally and locally. Your membership provides for discounts on registration fees for conferences and seminars.  The International Conference on Fundraising is the largest educational event for professionals.

Monthly Meetings:  The Fort Worth Chapter offers you a chance to attend regular monthly lunch meetings, which enable members to network and share information about the profession. Each meeting also features an educational program. 

A Chance to Serve:  Leadership opportunities are available by serving on the Chapter board or its many committees.

Access to Information and Research:  AFP provides a wealth of development resources at the international and chapter levels.  Library services, publications and research keep AFP members and affiliates up-to-date on the latest information on fund-raising practices.

Certification: Certified Fundraising Executive (CFRE) designation is earned by those with at least five years of experience that successfully complete the application and examination process.  Advanced Certified Fund Raising Executive (ACFRE) is a credentialing process for identifying mastery of the profession for individuals with 10 years experience.

An Ethical Standard: AFP members are required to practice their profession by a Code of Ethical Principles and Standards of Professional Practice.  AFP also has an enforcement procedure that ensures compliance.

Scholarship Opportunities: The AFP Foundation actively seeks funds to ensure educational opportunities are available to fundraisers for the First Course in Fundraising, the International Conference on Fundraising and the CFRE review course and testing. Click here for scholarship information.

What is the cost to join AFP?

·        Active Member - Paid professional with more than one year of experience in the industry

o    International dues $250 + Fort Worth local chapter dues $50 = $300 per year

·    Retired Member - Member of AFP for at least five years and no longer a paid professional.  International dues $75 + local chapter dues $50 = $125 per year

      1st year Introductory Member Open to persons newly employed in the field; fulltime, students in a degree-granting, certificate or diploma program; members who work for grassroots organizations with an operating budget of $250,000 or less; executive directors who spend less than 25 percent

of their time on fundraising-related responsibilities; and volunteers.  International dues $100 + local chapter dues $50 = $150 per year

·     2nd year Introductory Member   - second year introductory rate. International dues $150 + local chapter dues $50 = $200 per year.

·     Representative - Executive spending <25% of time on fundraising International dues $100 + local chapter dues $50 = $150 per year

·     Associate Membership - non-fundraising professional in a complementary field International dues $250 + local chapter dues $25 = $300 per year

How do I become a member of AFP?

1.   Memberships are processed by AFP International, headquartered in Virginia, so please visit the International AFP website to join (and renew, for current members).
